FAQ

What is the difference between lux, lumen and LED?

If you want to buy a lamp, it is good to know how much light a lamp gives. Sometimes this is stated in the number of Lux or Lumen. That requires a word of explanation...

The amount of light emitted by a light source within a given room angle is called Candela (cd). The unit for luminous flux is Lumen (lm). This luminous flux consists of an average value of colors (radiation) and indicates the total amount of light emitted by a light source per unit time. Think of concentrated light from a laser, or very scattered light from a traditional incandescent lamp that is freely arranged. Finally, the unit Lux (lx) represents the amount of light per unit area (m2), regardless of the amount of light sources used, the light or the structure of the terrain on which the light shines.

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and is the technology used for all contemporary light sources as well as our STALICO® lighting systems.

What does the Privacy Commission say about surveillance cameras and privacy?

To best protect citizens' privacy, anyone installing a surveillance camera must comply with the Privacy Act and Camera Act. This is the best way to satisfy the interests of all parties: the filmer and the filmed.

The Privacy Act aims to protect citizens from misuse of their personal data. Both the rights and obligations of the person whose data is being processed and the rights and obligations of the processor itself are set forth in the Privacy Act. The Camera Act applies to the installation and use of surveillance cameras for the purpose of surveillance and monitoring.

When should the camera law be complied with?

According to the Camera Law, a surveillance camera is:

Any fixed or mobile observation system with the intent:

  • prevent, establish, or detect crimes (e.g., co-owners' association seeking to prevent vandalism in the entrance hall of an apartment building), or
  • prevent, identify or detect nuisances (e.g., municipalities seeking to prevent vandalism on their territory), or
  • Maintain public order (e.g., during an annual fair); which collects, processes or stores images for these purposes only.
What are green power generators?

Green power generators help save energy, nature and costs. In technical terms, we speak of hybrid generators with a buffer battery. Only when the demand for electricity peaks or when the battery is running low is the power generator activated. In this way, it can work more efficiently, resulting in less fuel consumption.

Mobile light and camera towers with hybrid generator offer lower fuel costs, noise and emissions. GR Technics is going sustainable with a new generation of Power Hybrid generators, good for 60%CO2 reduction. The Power Hybrid line provides power for LED lighting, mobile cameras, communication towers and also serves as an emergency generator. Ask about electric and hybrid drive options!

Why use a battery at event or worksite?

Besides our green power generators, we also offer battery solutions for event or worksite. The battery is charged at our location via solar energy. Used for an event or temporary worksite for local power supply where there is sometimes none available.

Moreover, site batteries can also be used as peak shaving. Not getting enough electrical power through your grid connection? Let our battery charge overnight to provide the extra power you need during the day!

Moreover, with a battery solution, there are no local emissions, no noise production, no localCO2 emissions and extremely sustainable. Moreover, we avoid fuel storage on site. Optionally, the battery solutions can be linked to mobile solar panels for additional charging. Smart monitoring and control guarantees the most ecological energy solution on these temporary projects.

What is a fuel cell?

For low-power applications such as surveillance cameras or communication systems, we can use local electricity production via a fuel cell. The compact fuel cells that GR Technics places in STALICO® systems consume methanol instead of conventional hydrogen as fuel. Methanol is liquid and does not need to be kept under pressure, making it inherently safer. The fuel cell is usually always used in conjunction with a renewable energy source such as solar or wind power.

Can I buy a camera tower including a camera system from GR Technics?

The STALICO® systems are designed to be compatible with any camera system. The choice of which camera system is usually determined by the customer. The camera systems are provided by the customer and installed by us on the STALICO® products and thoroughly tested. In contrast to lighting, a camera system involves more than just a power supply: image storage, internet connection, connectivity to control room, software/app to control the system, etc. This is all usually determined by the customer's organisation itself who does or will do the security. For this reason, a camera mast cannot be rented from us but can be rented from our customers. Nevertheless, GR Technics will always be at your service to help you make a choice and to assist you!

Why are STALICO® products so unique?

GR Technics has been active for 20 years in the mobile lighting tower market with STALICO® as its brand. Subsequently, camera towers were added with mobile power supplies for construction sites and events. These products have improved and evolved over 20 years thanks to the experience and feedback of our customers and users. They are outstanding in terms of quality but also in terms of the easy use of such mobile systems. As we build our products often very specifically to customer specifications, they also offer commercial opportunities. The panels are printed with each customer's logo and name and they just look great!

What is the difference between STALICO® and GR Technics?

STALICO® is the brand name of our products made by GR Technics. The rental and sale of lighting towers, lighting and event accessories is done by GR Technics.

In which countries do we operate?

For 20 years we have been operating mainly in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and Germany. Export activities are now extended to France, UK, Spain and USA. The furthest you can find a STALICO® system is even in New Zealand!

Can you also provide maintenance and perdiodic inspection for existing products?

Yes! Repairs, rewiring, electrical re-inspection, replacement or updating of camera or lighting systems on site or at our premises in Beerse is possible. Did you know that a mobile electrical installation must undergo an annual periodic inspection? Ask for more information!
